The main thing is not to cast a spell: the Law Enforcement Committee of Parliament supported the bill on the decriminalization of porn in Ukraine

‘The Law Enforcement Committee supported our draft law No. 12191 on the decriminalisation of porn as a basis,’ wrote MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak (Ярослав Железняк) on Telegram.

There were 11 votes in favour and two abstentions.

The decriminalisation of this area has attracted particular attention due to the situation with the taxation of OnlyFans models in Ukraine.

The new draft law No. 12191 amends Article 301 of the Criminal Code, which will not imprison adults for filming and distributing intimate videos, as it is now for 3-5 years of prison.

At the same time, criminal liability will remain for non-consensual porn, extreme porn, and porn with children (as well as for distributing pornography among children). The document is still to be finalised for the second reading.

Previously, similar draft laws have been submitted to the parliament, but there has been no movement on them.

‘...this version is more conservative and has been prepared for over a year in discussion with the committee and working group. I hope we will be able to bring it to the parliament early next year... Once again for the media - this is exactly the DECRIMINALIZATION of porn. This is NOT ‘legalisation of porn’ - it is already legalised, and we have been collecting millions of taxes from the same OnlyFans for a couple of years now,’ noted Zheleznyak.

‘So that people are not imprisoned for storing content or conducting massive ‘secret purchases’ on webcams. Because as for now under Article 301, you can be punished even for storing naked photos on your personal phone.’

The MP appealed to his fellow politicians, warning against inappropriate jokes, criticism or populism: ‘Just ask how many of our citizens are now convicted of this. And how many had to go abroad. The topic is fun, but only up to this point. As soon as you start to realise that it’s about real people, it becomes very sad.’
