On April 9, 2019, the leadership of the Urgent Action Fund met with activists of Ukrainian human rights organizations.

Elena Fiskova, head of the board of CO “Legalife-Ukraine”, shared her impressions.

Since 1997, the Urgent Action Fund has been helping women around the world in critical situations, issuing quick response grants for 1-10 days. The size of grants reaches 8000 dollars.

According to Elena, the CO “Legalife-Ukraine” organization also received help from the foundation – it saved sex workers from persecution.

“Hide the sex worker in a safe place; protect her from persecution of her husband, police, client; to transport to a safe place, to rent an apartment – these actions of the Urgent Action Fund help to save lives, ”says Elena.

“Our position is: do not save sex workers from sex work. We are against the so-called Swedish model. Punishing clients will deprive many sex workers of income and the ability to survive, ”sums up Elena.
