During the war, the priority of the community of sex workers was to ensure the survival of each of the SWs, that is, the preservation of life and support of the physical and psycho-emotional health of SWs and their families.

Since Sex Workers work mainly at night, there are problems with finding clients: clubs do not work, and it’s scary to work on the highways even during the day, because there are a lot of police, and the law on an administrative level continues to operate, since no one has repealed it.

Natalia Zhuravlyova

Many people from our SW community left for other cities, many left abroad. Those who remained in the country spend their savings (well, the ones who had them, of course). The girls say that it is scary to work, even with proven clients, because people are changing, become more aggressive.

Very few SWs have the opportunity to earn enough to live on by now. Most of us have no income at all. In addition, many of sex workers do not have documents. They are afraid to go outside – even to the store – even during the day. They ask girlfriends or friends for such a help. Therefore, the main needs for them remain same – food, housing rent, and medicine,” – Natalia Zhuravlyova, leader of the initiative group in Dnipro city (Ukraine).

Today, in this conditions of war, the main tasks of our organization have become to ensure the humanitarian needs of sex workers and access to psychological, informational and legal support.

So, during June-July 2022 almost 400 SWs from 12 regions of Ukraine and their children received humanitarian aid in the form of:

300 “Food” sets

300 sets of “Hygiene products”

280 sets “Clothes, shoes, blankets”

130 sets “Baby food and hygiene products (pampers)”

280 sets “Medicines and medical supplies”

More than 150 SWs did received a legal assistance and escort/transportation services for social, medical and legal assistance.

130 SWs received qualified assistance from psychologists and lawyers through the telephone National Hotline and online chats of our organization.

Since the beginning of the war, more than 360 SWs did participated in 220 information sessions and got access to HIV prevention and treatment programs, got help for the protection of their rights, got help on combating violence, etc.

These information sessions were attended by representatives of NGOs, medical institutions, human rights activists, psychologists.
